Mapelastic is a two-component cement-based mortar containing selected fine-grained aggregates, special additives and synthetic polymers in aqueous dispersion, according to a formula developed in Mapei's research laboratories. When the two components are mixed, a fluid paste is obtained that can be easily applied, even on vertical surfaces, at a thickness of up to 2 mm in a single layer.
Delivery date: 3-10 working days
Typical examples of application:
waterproofing of concrete basins used to retain water;
waterproofing of bathrooms, showers, balconies, terraces, swimming pools, before applying ceramic tiles;
waterproofing of plasterboard walls, cement-based plasters, lightweight cement-based masonry, wood veneers;
as a leveling, waterproofing and flexible material applied to concrete structures with reduced sections, which suffer small deformations, due to mechanical loads of exploitation (e.g. prefabricated concrete panels);
protection and waterproofing of plasters or concrete structures, which have suffered microcracks due to drying shrinkage, against water infiltration and aggressive agents in the atmosphere;
protection of concrete surfaces against carbonation, on bridge piers or road and railway viaducts, whose structures have been repaired with mortars from the Mapegrout line or as anti-corrosion protection for concrete elements that have insufficient concrete coverage over the reinforcing bars;
protection of concrete surfaces that may come into contact with salty sea water or subjected to the aggressiveness of chemical agents, such as aqueous solutions used for defrosting: sodium chloride, calcium chloride and sulphates.
The two-component cement-based mortar remains flexible at very low temperatures (-20°C) and is resistant to UV rays. A 2.5 mm layer of Mapelastic is equivalent to 30 mm of concrete against the aggressive action of chlorides (w/c ratio: 0.45). It can be applied on already finished surfaces and is compatible to be covered with ceramic, mosaic or natural stone finishes.
The product is delivered with two components, A + B, packaged in a 24 kg bag, respectively an 8 kg plastic container.
